"Even though functional medicine is becoming a common word in many people's lives, what exactly does functional medicine mean?
For a lot of diseases especially chronic diseases, there should be a reason or what we call root causes. Functional medicine is a practice where we do not just treat based on symptomatic, but we look at the reason or root cause, first of all, why the disease is occurring besides genetic factors.
Mostly conventional medicine is also very important, but it’s more for chronic diseases, focusing on symptomatic management. But if you look at the functional medicine part, we want to know the root cause. When we find out the reason why, the person is sick, and then we remove it, it is going to help to handle the disease better in terms of curing it.
So it's not a symptomatic measurement. We want to balance and help the patient to come out of the disease in the end. The tools of functional medicine itself mean we are assessing the functional, imbalances in the body so we can use blood tests.
We also have functional measurement tools like in OXYZ, where we use bio-resonance. And we also do dark field analysis. There are many modalities. But what I am using is mainly blood tests. For heavy metal, we also have hair analysis, tomography. These are the tools that I usually pick up to know the person in depth."

Functional medicine is becoming increasingly familiar to many people, but what exactly does it mean? This approach to healthcare delves deeper than conventional methods, seeking to address the root causes of diseases rather than just managing symptoms.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a practice that looks beyond symptomatic treatment. It focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying reasons or root causes of diseases, especially chronic conditions. This method considers various factors, including genetic predispositions, to understand why a disease is occurring in the first place.
The Difference Between Conventional and Functional Medicine
Conventional medicine plays a crucial role, particularly in managing symptoms of chronic diseases. However, it often stops short of exploring why these diseases occur. Functional medicine, on the other hand, aims to uncover and eliminate the root causes, thus potentially curing the disease rather than just alleviating its symptoms.
The Approach of Functional Medicine
The goal of functional medicine is not just symptomatic management but a holistic approach to healing. By finding and addressing the root cause of a patient's illness, functional medicine seeks to balance and restore health, helping patients overcome their conditions entirely.
Tools and Techniques in Functional Medicine
Functional medicine employs a variety of tools to assess functional imbalances in the body. Some of these tools include:
- Blood Tests: Essential for understanding various imbalances and deficiencies in the body.
- Bio-Resonance: A technique used to detect energy imbalances.
- Dark Field Analysis: A method of examining live blood cells under a microscope to identify abnormalities.
- Tomography: Imaging techniques to visualize internal body structures.
- Hair Analysis: Used to detect heavy metals and other toxins in the body.
In particular, blood tests are a common tool for many functional medicine practitioners. For detecting heavy metals, hair analysis is also frequently used. These tools provide a comprehensive view of a person's health, enabling a deeper understanding and more effective treatment.
The Ultimate Goal
The ultimate aim of functional medicine is to help patients not just manage but fully recover from their diseases. By addressing the root causes and restoring balance to the body, functional medicine offers a path to lasting health and well-being.
In conclusion, functional medicine represents a paradigm shift in healthcare, moving from symptomatic treatment to a more holistic, root-cause approach. This method holds promise for better management and potential cures for chronic diseases, improving the overall quality of life for patients.
Breast pain could be a sign of cancer, and some women don't realize they're pregnant until experiencing severe pain. Ectopic pregnancy is a common issue in the emergency department. If you experience abnormal pain or bleeding, don't hesitate to go to the ER.
As long as you're having unprotected sex, whether with multiple partners or a single partner, there's always a risk for you to be exposed to an STI. You can actually have more than one STI at a time. For example, you can have herpes with gonorrhoea simultaneously, or you can have HIV along with other STIs. So there's always a possibility of having more than one STI.
Any disease—I'm not talking about acute disease, but chronic disease—should have a reason, and most of the time, it's the way we live, our stress level, and many other common factors that we repeatedly practice in our daily lives. Be aware of that. Whenever we are suffering from any chronic diseases, besides symptomatic management, please do find out why I am sick first of all, and then rectify the root cause. By doing that, it will add more value to your healing journey
